Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Simply Limitless

Simply Limitless places the safety and wellbeing of children, families and vulnerable adults at the heart of all that we do. As a charity we deliver preventative, relational mental health and wellbeing services, often to individuals with a history of trauma, exclusion, or system disengagement. Safeguarding is embedded in both our policies and our day-to-day practice.

Simply Limitless as a Wellbeing Centre is, and has always been, committed to maintaining a positive, strong and robust attitude to safeguarding. We aim to provide a safe environment at all times, creating a culture that protects all participants alike, from harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Our proactive approach aims to protect everyone who is engaged in any of our projects.

Simply Limitless is committed to ensuring that every child, adult and family we work with is treated with dignity, safety, and respect.

Our safeguarding approach is not just procedural – it’s relational, inclusive, and central to our mission of building safe, supported, and resilient communities.

Named Leads and Governance

  • Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is a qualified social worker with oversight of all child and adult safeguarding matters.
  • We also have a Deputy DSL trained to the same standard.
  • The Trustee Board receives quarterly safeguarding reports and safeguarding is a standing agenda item at trustee meetings.

Policies and Procedures

Simply Limitless has robust and annually reviewed policies in place, including:

  • Safeguarding Children
  • Safeguarding Adults
  • Lone Working
  • Whistleblowing
  • Confidentiality & Information Sharing

These policies are shared with all staff and volunteers and form part of our onboarding process.

Safer Recruitment and Training

All employees and volunteers:

  • Are subject to DBS checks before working with Simply Limitless in any capacity
  • Are interviewed and required to provide full references
  • Are given copies of our safeguarding policies and procedures as part of induction
  • Are encouraged to speak openly with the Designated Safeguarding Lead about any concerns, however minor
  • Attend volunteer meetings held twice a year, where safeguarding is always discussed and reviewed

Those working or engaging in home visits complete a Level 2 online safeguarding course due to the nature of their roles.

All staff and volunteers receive regular safeguarding training. This training is adapted to be trauma-informed and responsive to the relational context of our work

Trauma- and Child-Informed Practice

  • Staff are trained to understand safeguarding through a trauma-informed lens.
  • We work with children, neurodivergent individuals, pregnant women and new mothers – and tailor safeguarding responses to those contexts.
  • Our work includes understanding behavioural signals of distress and providing psychologically safe environments for disclosure.

Physical Environment

Our Wellbeing Centre is designed with safeguarding in mind, including:

  • Clear sightlines
  • Zoned family-friendly spaces
  • Quiet rooms for one to one meetings
  • Secure entry protocols
  • Child and adult safeguarding considerations are embedded in all operational planning.

Digital Safeguarding

As we expand use of digital tools (e.g. for referrals or remote engagement), we are developing an internal Digital Safeguarding Guidance to ensure online safety and consent. All online activities will follow safe contact protocols with parental consent where required.

Reporting and Case Management

We maintain a central safeguarding log accessible only to DSLs and senior staff.

All concerns are escalated following local authority thresholds and guidance.

PROCEDURES

We take seriously any concern, hunch, or feeling, expressed by a volunteer or member of staff about anyone we work with, or anyone who attends our Centre. Those who pick up on a concern are not expected to deal with it, but instead pass it to the Designated Lead.

This is initially raised with our Designated Lead, then discussed with the Deputy and/or CEO to decide on appropriate action.

All action is recorded on that person's notes in our database. Ongoing concerns will be tagged as a ‘safeguarding issue’. We will report safeguarding issues to Adult or Children’s Services, and the GP, whenever necessary.

Multi-Agency Working and Community Networks

Simply Limitless is embedded in local safeguarding networks. These networks strengthen our referral pathways, shared protocols, and consistency in language and approach.  These networks include

  • Children’s Social Services
  • Adult Social Services
  • Worcestershire Adult Safeguarding Board
  • Schools, police, health visitors, Primary Care Networks
  • The Neighbourhood Forum
  • Young Solutions (as an infrastructure partner)
  • Our CEO chairs a multi-agency meeting

Culture and Accessibility

We foster a culture where staff, volunteers, children, and families know how to raise concerns and are confident they will be acted on.  We adapt our safeguarding processes for:

  • Individuals with low literacy or digital access
  • Neurodiverse individuals
  • Those affected by poverty or housing insecurity

Simply Limitless is committed to ensuring that every child, adult and family we work with is treated with dignity, safety, and respect.

Our safeguarding approach is not just procedural – it’s relational, inclusive, and central to our mission of building safe, supported, and resilient communities.
